(Original Caption) Professor J. B. S. Haldane, noted British scientist is shown leaving the Law Courts in London, where he appeared before the Board of Inquiry probing the sinking of the British submarine Thetis. Professor Haldane related to the board his experiences after he had sealed himself in an air tight chamber for 14 1/2 hours to reproduce air conditions he assumed developed in the Thetis, after she had sunk. The professor said that at the end of 13 hours in the chamber, he was panting for breath and had the beginnings of a headache.
