(Original Caption) Bob Grim, 20 game winner for the N.Y. Yankees, was named today as the American League's rookie of the year. The 24 year old righthander who didn't figure to make the Yankee varsity last spring, won the award handily in the voting conducted by the Baseball Writers Association of America, receiving 15 out of a possible 24 votes. Jim Finigan of the Kansas City Athletics received 8 votes. Grim's 20-6 record made the ex-marine the first Yankee Rookie 20 game winner since Russell Ford in 1910.
