Contract workers working in the sinkhole on the 8400 block of Tujunga Ave. The industrial row that stretches along Tujunga Ave. is known for its scrap yards and body shops, and more recently for its gaping hole. Several weeks ago, severe rainstorms washed away the earth from this Sun Valley road, creating a hole that opened 200 feet long, and ultimately claimed the life of a city worker. It is one of the worst, and possibly the largest sinkhole residents and city workers have seen. (Photo by Ricardo DeAratanha/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)
