Cup, c1530, (1843).Artist: Henry Shaw

Cup, c1530, (1843). Cup from the royal collection at Windsor. The bowl is formed of a nautilus shell mounted on a stand of silver gilt. It was thought to have been the work of Benvenuto Cellini, as the figure of Jupiter bears close resemblance to Francis I for whom Cellini was working at the time the cup was made. Illustration from Dresses and Decorations of the Middle Ages from the Seventh to the Seventeenth Centuries, by Henry Shaw, (London, 1843). (Photo by The Print Collector/Print Collector/Getty Images)
