LAPD Counter Surveillance Team And Gang Units
LOS ANGELES - APRIL 14: A detective with the Los Angeles Police Department gang unit searches the apartment of an arrested drug dealer April 14, 2010 after a search warrant was issued in the South East police division of Los Angeles, California. Six ounces of crack cocaine worth $4800 was found inside a woman's purse along with an SKS assault rifle and a .357 magnum revolver (inside envelope). The drug dealer, a veteran of the local Bounty Hunter Bloods gang, was arrested a short distance from his apartment. Major crime figures for Los Angeles have gone down in the last two years. Los Angeles city financial cutbacks have nearly eliminated overtime payments for the LAPD gang and narcotics units forcing officers to take unpaid leave days once their overtime ceilings are reached. Another major issue is LAPD union members are refusing to sign a controversial city Consent Decree which would force police officers to make public their personal and family financial records.
