Judge Reading Arraignment Document to Suspected Murderer
(Original Caption) Detroit: Detroit Recorder's Judge Joseph A. Gillis (left) 3/6 arraigned Detroit police patrolman Forrest A. Forest Jr. at Receiving hospital on a charge of slaying John A. (Wimpy) Elliot, a boxing world figure. Foster was wounded in the hip when he tried to escape from Sheriff's deputies. The policeman's attorney, Raymond J. DeRyck, (right), stood by Foster's bedside. Foster made no plea. The judge entered a plea of innocent and set Foster's examination for 3/21. Foster and a companion were arrested by police 3/5, when Elliots body was found in the trunk of their car.
