The show honours British skating legend John Curry and forms the centre piece of the 55th Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance. In the 1970s and 1980s until his death in 1994 John Curry was one of the most influential ice skaters of the time noted for combining ballet with modern dance in his routines.
