Fulton Fish Market 200th Anniversary

Fulton Fish Market (FFM), which is celebrating it’s 200th anniversary this year, is the second largest fish market in the world (after the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo) handling up to two million pounds of fresh seafood every day. In 2005, after 180 years in Manhattan’s Seaport district, the market relocated to Hunt’s Point in the Bronx, and in 2014 its online operation FultonFishMarket.com was started. The online expansion allowed the market to bring high quality fresh fish to consumers nationwide. Despite a rise in seafood prices, the final weeks of December, ahead of the holidays, are one of the busiest times of year for both in-person and online shopping with the market receiving certain fresh seafood like King Crab and Eel.
