Chinese People Mourn Nanjing Massacre Victims To Mark Qingming Festival

Japanese troops occupied Nanjing on December 13, 1937 and launched a six-week long massacre. Historical records show that more than 300,000 Chinese, including civilians as well as unarmed soldiers, were slaughtered during the massacre. The Qingming Festival, also known as the "Tomb Sweeping Day", is when people traditionally pay their respects to the deceased and ancestors, and involves cleaning, repairing of tombs and sacrifice activities.
