WW1-WAR END-FRENCH SOLDIERS-CIVILIANS
A French soldier speaks with an old man in Belgium in November 1918 near the end of World War I after the Allied victory of summer and autumn 1918. The Great War started in 1914 with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and was ended with an armistice between the Allied powers and defeated Germany on November 11, 1918. Over 60 million European soldiers were mobilized from 1914 to 1918 and some 20 million military and civilian deaths resulted. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on 28 June 1919.
