Berlin At End Of War In Europe
A group of Allied soldiers stand on a balcony of the wrecked and bombed out New Reich Chancellery on Vossstrasse near Potsdamer Platz in the centre of Berlin, capital city of Germany, at the end of fighting in Europe during World War II in July 1945. British troops were finally allowed in to Berlin on 4th July following the total surrender of German forces on 9th May 1945. The balcony of the New Reich Chancellery was a favoured location for Fuhrer Adolf Hitler to deliver speeches. (Photo by James Jarche/Popperfoto via Getty Images)
