(Original Caption) Hospital Vigil. In John Steinbeck's Tortilla Flat, produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Dolores "Sweets" Ramirez, played by lovely Hedy Lamarr, manages to reform happy-go-lucky Danny, John Garfield, who while proving his love for her, is victim of an accident, Danny's pals, Spencer Tracy, who looks upon Dolores as a menace, and who plays the role of the beloved rascal Pilon, John Qualen as Jose Maria Corcoran, and Akim Tamkroff, as Tracy's humble henchman, Pablo, look on, also worried about their friend. Other members of the brilliant cast are Frank Morgan, Donald Meek, Allen Jenkins, Henry O'Neill, Sheldon Leonard, and Connie Gilchrist. The film is directed by Victor Fleming and produced by Sam Zimbalist.
