Hundreds Flee Hurricane Betsy
Hundreds of persons fled their homes in the low lying north-east section of New Orleans on September 10th when waters began to rise in the wake of Hurricane Betsy that passed through here late the day before. Many persons were able to walk to dry land, but others had to be evacuated by boats, army trucks, and amphibians.
