Hamilton, an accomplished snowboarder himself, used the opportunity to push the limits of his ability under the watchful eye of acclaimed snowboarders Kevin Backstrom, Tor Lundstrom and Halldor Helgason. The crew headed to Hokkaido Island and spent time hiking in the mountains, riding in fresh powder, burning around on snow bikes and ski-doos and when the snow turned to rain during the trip - Hamilton instigated a trip to the west coast of the island to spend the morning surfing in the Sea of Japan. Of his time in Japan, Hamilton said, "It was so good to be able to go on a trip like this at start of 2018. It was so enjoyable to hang out with some incredible athletes and push my skills on a board - the perfect preparation for the F1 season ahead." Tor Lundstrom said, "It was a great trip to be part of and Lewis's riding was impressive. Monster Energy always come up with cool projects and being able to ride with athletes from completely different disciplines was so much fun - I hope we get to ride together again."
