Hungarian Irregular Troops
Irregular Hungarian troops form outposts against attacks by Austrian and Russian troops. In 1849 a short-lived independent Hungarian republic existed under Louis Kossuth. It was soon overthrown by Austrian and Russian troops. But by 1867 the Austro-Hungarian Empire was established, which made Austria and Hungary nearly equal partners.
