27 January 2025, Poland, Oswiecim (auschwitz): Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender, together with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and his wife Britta Ernst, walk through the gate of the former German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, Auschwitz I main camp, with the inscription "Arbeit macht frei". Federal President Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Scholz take part in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz with a high-ranking delegation.
