Japan's Largest Tunneling Shield Unveiled To Link Expressways

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN - SEPTEMBER 15: Japan's largest shield tunneling machine, which has a 16.1-meter diameter and will excavate the Tokyo Gaikan Expressway tunnel that connects the Kanetsu and Tomei expressways, is unveiled at the IHI Corp. plant on September 15, 2016 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. The tunneling shield's task is to build a 16.2-kilometer tunnel to join up the expressways, and it can excavate a 30-meter stretch of a three-lane tunnel per day.
