World's Most-Prized Fish Sold for $3.1 Million at Toyosu Fish Market

Kiyoshi Kimura, president of Kiyomura Corp., poses with a newly-purchased tuna at a Sushizanmai restaurant in Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. Kiyomura, operator of the Sushizanmai restaurant chain across Japan, made the winning bid of 333.6 million yen ($3.07 million) for a 278-kilogram bluefin tuna at Toyosu Market today. The record price -- which equates to about $5,000 a pound -- is more than double the previous high set in 2013, according to Masayuki Fukuda, an official in charge of trading operations at the Tokyo market.
