Media mogul Rupert Murdoch leaves the News Corp New York offices 31 July 2007 after The Wall Street Journal reported Murdoch's News Corp. appeared to have won enough backing from members of the Bancroft family and a family trust to secure a takeover of Dow Jones & Co. The report by the Dow Jones-owned daily said Bancroft family members who control 32 percent of the board's voting power have agreed to support News Corp.'s five-billion-dollar takeover offer for the company.
