Horses Racing in the Hambletonian
(Original Caption) Newport Dream (4A) is shown as he reeled off the second of two heats today to win the $106,830 Hambletonian, harness racing's Kentucky Derby. The two year old trotting champion of 1953, owned by Newport Stock Farm of Plainfield, N.J., reeled off two identical times of 2:02-4/5 to take first money of $57,581.74. Del Cameron, 34 year old driver from Pinehurst, N.C., was at the reins. In this particular heat, Stenographer (3) finished fourth and also captured third place money; Princess Rodney (5A) finished third and captured second place money and Harlan (3A) finished second.
