BA has been hit by a faltering public image since its U-turn in June over the decision to replace the traditional Union flag livery with ethnic tail fin designs. *The company has also reported a 40% slump in profits as cut-throat competition for customers took its toll. 26/3/03: British Airways faced up to the impact of the Iraqi conflict by cutting back on flights and accelerating its job reduction programme.
