Crowds Celebrate The Fall Of The Berlin Wall
People climb onto the Berlin Wall to celebrate after the border between East and West Berlin was opened, 10th-11th November 1989. The border was opened on the evening of 9th November and demolition of the wall by members of the public began the same night. This is a section of the wall near the Brandenburg Gate – a high profile location where, for cosmetic reasons, the wall is not topped with a cylindrical anti-climb obstacle.
