Cornish Visitor Numbers To Be Boosted By New Series Of Poldark
ST AGNES, UNITED KINGDOM - JUNE 12: People walk along the coast path besides the Wheal Coates Tin Mine at St Agnes that was used as a location in the BBC's romantic period drama Poldark, on June 12, 2017 in Cornwall, England. Local business are hoping that the Poldark effect will once again boost visitor numbers after the third season of the romantic BBC period drama, which stars Aiden Turner as the brooding heartthrob Ross Poldark and is set in Cornwall's rugged 18th-century mining landscape, started this week. Figures produced by the website VisitCornwall showed that half of the 4.4million visitors holidaying in Cornwall in 2015 had seen the critically acclaimed adaptation of Winston Graham's novels and of that number, a quarter said they had been directly influenced to come back to the county as a result of seeing the Cornish locations on TV.
