Today, the main sites of ancient Pergamon are to the north and west of the modern city of Bergama. This was the temple built by the Romans for the God-Emperor Trajan. (also called Trajaneum). Another huge temple for Zeus which was located here at the upper Acropolis of Pergamon, is now in the Pergamon museum in Berlin. The English word "parchment" comes from the name of this city Pergamon.
