(Original Caption) 10/7/1948-Boston, MA: Phil Masi, Boston Braves catcher is safely back on second in the eighth inning of the first game of the World Series. Feller threw to Boudreu in an attempt to catch Masi napping at second. The umpire ruled him safe and refused to reverse him-self despite the squrk of manager Boudreu, pictured here, umpire Stewart's decision took on a greater importance when Masi scored on a single a few minutes later with what poved to be the winning run.
