MAERIM DISTRICT, CHIANG MAI, THAILAND - 2023/09/01: Portrait of a Padaung long-neck tribe woman at her handicraft booth at the Baan Tong Luang village in Mae Rim. The Padaung tribe is a subset of the Karenni, which in turn is a subgroup of the Karen ethnic group. The Padaung tribe is primarily known for its long-necked women who wear brass coils around their necks. These coils, representing wealth, social standing, and beauty, have the remarkable ability to lengthen their necks by more than a foot and can weigh more than 20 pounds. According to the Guinness Book of Records, they hold the world record for the longest necks. (Photo by Nathalie Jamois/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)
