COLON, PANAMA: USS Samuel B. Roberts frigate awaits at Cristobal pier, in Colon, 80kms north of Panama City, 06 August 2005. Naval forces from 15 countries started Panamax 2005, the largest-ever multinational training exercice for the defense of the Panama Canal, which involves training in detection, monitoring and interdiction of threats. Ships, aircraft and naval personnel from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama, Peru and the United States will respond to a simulated security crisis, as part of the exercises running from August 4 to 17.
