New York's Financial District
382055 02: Taxis and people fill the streets on Wall Street November 15, 2000 in the center of New York City's financial district. The corner, in 1972, was a site for merchants to meet daily at a Buttonwood tree to sell U.S. bonds that went towards funding the Revolutionary War. The site evolved into the New York Stock Exchange, with more than 3,000 companies trading nearly 281 billion shares valued at more than $12 trillion dollars. (Photo by Chris Hondros/Newsmakers)
