Italy's Last Standing Ghetto To Be Demolished
PADUA , ITALY - JULY 17: The entrance door to an empty flat inside of one of the six Via Anelli apartment blocks is sealed off with a steel grid, on July 17, 2007 in Padua, northern Italy. The run-down Via Anelli estate is ringed with a steel wall, following riots between rival gangs and criminal activity involving drugs and prostitution. The high-rise flats were built in the 1980s for the purpose of student accommodation, but have more recently housed several hundred immigrants, mostly African. In the coming days, the remaining inhabitants will be required to leave their accommodation as the area becomes "off limits" and awaits demolition. (Photo by Giuseppe Cacace/Getty Images)
