The widow of Lt Dmitry Kolesnikov, Olga, (3rd R), mourns 29 October 2000 during a memorial ceremony for the crew of the sunken Russian nuclear submarine Kursk at the ship's home port of Severomorsk, about 1500 km (940 miles) north of Moscow. Man at the left holds a portrait of the Kursk commander Capt. 1st rank Gennady Lyachin. Kolesnikov, an officer on the submarine Kursk, wrote his wife a mournful poem in the days before he went on the ship's final voyage, which ended when it sank 12 August 2000 in the Barents Sea.
