A view of destroyed buildings and debris around the tourist
ISHIKAWA, JAPAN - 2024/02/07: A view of destroyed buildings and debris around the tourist spot Asaichi following the Noto Peninsula earthquake that sparked a devastating fire in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture. The Noto Peninsula earthquake took 241 lives, with devastating effects in Kawai-cho. More than 200 houses, including a popular tourist spot called "morning market street," were destroyed. This area, known for its fresh fish, vegetables, and traditional crafts like Wajima-nuri chopsticks, attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors yearly. However, the fire that followed the quake left nothing but ashes. (Photo by James Matsumoto/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)
