Villagers from Amoyo Koma dance during a
Villagers from Amoyo Koma dance during a burial ceremony on July 9, 2009 for the remains of a woman who was a victim of attacks of rebels from the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) against the local population. Three years after the massacres and midnight abductions stopped, her unburied remains became a symbol of how the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) continued to torment the Acholi people. Burial ceremonies have been held by returnees to excise the 'evil spirits' that they felt were attacking them. They believed the spirits would only leave them in peace if they were given a decent burial. AFP PHOTO/Ben SIMON (Photo credit should read BEN SIMON/AFP via Getty Images)
