As Ukraine War Reaches Two-Year Anniversary, Citizens Of Lyman Caught In Limbo Of War
LYMAN, UKRAINE - FEBRUARY 19: With the active front-line often no more than 10 miles away, Ukrainian workers fix a cell phone mast beside a Soviet-era House of Culture destroyed by Russian rockets in 2022, on February 19, 2024 in Lyman, Ukraine. As the two-year anniversary of Russias all-out invasion of Ukraine nears on February 24, Ukrainians are being forced to adapt to a new reality of living with war - as these citizens are doing in Lyman, which was occupied by Russian forces for five months in 2022 and has only made modest progress in rebuilding the 90% of structures that have been damaged, due to proximity of the conflict. Today Russian troops have stepped up attacks all along the 600-mile front, causing Ukrainian units in the eastern regions to dig deeper into defensive positions.
