(Original Caption) With the early snows in the higher areas of the Sierras reaching sufficient depth for skiing, overzealous ski enthusiasts jumped the "opening gun" to give the "hill" at Sugar Bowl here, near Donner Summit, a preseason try. Thanksgiving weekend is normally the opening date for skiing, but the increasing interest in the sport and ideal weather found this activity on Mt. Disney (above) the first week in November.
