Heavy rain in resulted in over 800,000 people being displaced and more than 373 people being killed in what has been called the worst flooding in Kerala in nearly a century. All 14 districts of the state were placed on high alert and thirty-five out of the forty-two dams within the state were opened for the first time in history.
