The famous Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) in Mitte, Berlin. The gate tells the history of the city: built in the 18th century as a symbol of peace by Carl Gotthard Langhans in the neoclassical style, it then became a symbol of power in the 19th century. It was severely damaged during World War II. Part of the Berlin Wall and symbol of the division of the city during the Cold War, the gate became an icon of reunification after the fall of the Wall. The gate and Pariser Platz have since been restored.
