Heure bleue au pied de l'Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel à Paris - stock photo
The arch of triumph Carousel is a monument dating from 1809 built under Napoleon Bonaparte. It has inputs on each of the four faces (tetrapyle). It is located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, on the Place du Carrousel, just west of the Louvre Museum.
This triumphal arch is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 10 September 1888.
Built in honor of the Grand Army of Napoleon Bonaparte between 1807 and 1809, the monument is located in front of the palace, on the esplanade before the wing of the Tuileries (before it burned in 1871). Celebrating the victory of the French army at Austerlitz, the triumphal arch, designed by Charles Percier and Pierre Fontaine, shows the 1805 campaign and the capitulation of Ulm 20 October 1805.
