Sweet caramel edible Mexican Chapulines (grasshoppers) and buñuelos, this is a sweet dish from that are eaten in a buñuelo, like a thin flat crispy bread it is usually eaten with caramel honey, and this variation has chapulines or grasshoppers with caramel on top of the buñuelos.
After being thoroughly cleaned and washed, they are toasted on a comal clay pan and they are prepared with garlic, lime juice and salt containing extract of agave worms, lending a sour spicy salty taste to the finished product.
Sometimes the grasshoppers are also toasted with chili, although it can be used to cover up for stale chapulines.
