From outside of Durango, Colorado, 23 miles on a dirt Missionary Ridge road leads you to the end of the road and the beginning of a beautiful hike called Mountain View Crest. In the summer hiking this trail gives you great views of 14000 ft. mountain peaks and the Weminuche Wilderness. The final elevation of the long hike is 12,998 ft. and provides another view of two blue mountain lakes. Some daredevil friends are willing to hike to a cliff edge for the best mountain views.
