TRANSITIONAL EPITHELIUM, URINARY BLADDER, 400X - stock photo
TRANSITIONAL EPITHELIUM, URINARY BLADDER, 400X. Transitional Epithelium (found in the urinary bladder and ureter) consists of many layers of cells that can change their shape when the bladder is stretched when filling with urine. These plump cells are characteristic of this epithelium in an unstretched bladder, whereas when the bladder is filled with urine and stretches the cells flatten out. The dark blue is supporting connective tissue.
