Diamond Dust in Biei Town, Hokkaido - stock video

Snow-covered forested slopes and diamond dust. Zoom in. The town of Biei is situated more or less in the center of Hokkaido. It has an inland climate with pronounced differences of temperature between the winter and summer months. In the winter, temperatures can sometimes drop to minus 20ºC. On clear winter mornings when temperatures are below minus 10ºC, and there are humid and calm conditions, the droplets of moisture in the air can quickly freeze into a myriad of tiny ice crystals, which will glitter in the sunlight. The tiny ice crystals are referred to as diamond dust.
