Thousands in Berlin protest against racism

BERLIN, GERMANY - JULY 4: Nearly 2,000 people marched through central Berlin on July 04, 2020, protesting against racism and police brutality. Protesters gathered at the Brandenburger Tor in solidarity against the killing of a black man, George Floyd, in the US at the hands of a white police officer. They chanted slogans and carried banners which read, "Black Lives Matter" and "No to racism". The demonstration highlighted the global outpouring of rage surrounding the death of Floyd, who died on May 25 after asphyxiation by a white police officer. Police brutality has been an ongoing issue across Europe, where minority groups and all those in solidarity have called for an end to the persistent abuse and violence on the part of law enforcement. Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American, was filmed gasping for air and pleading for breath as Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes.(Footage by Erbil Basay /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
