He joins us tonight from Las Vegas. Phil, if you have one of these cars, you hear a fix is in the works, what's the timetable? How long?" INT LAS VEGAS, NEVADA In x-talk CNBC's Phil LeBeau says "Well, it depends on what type of a problem you have with your vehicle. If you have gone to your dealer and you have reported that you have a sticking accelerator pedal, likely you're going to be one of the first vehicles that will be repaired once the parts go to the dealership. A lot of people, however--and we should point out, the vast majority of people driving Toyotas have not had any problems with their accelerator pedals. And as a result, it's going to be almost on a first come, first served basis once they're notified by their dealer that they should bring their vehicle in. And ultimately, it'll be up to the Toyota owners to bring their cars in to be repaired. And one last thing, Lester. We should clarify, there has not been an official announcement by either Toyota or the federal government about a fix for these sticking accelerator pedals, but it is our understanding that we will hear an announcement on Monday morning, and that's when we'll start to see the process play out." HOLT: Phil, these are popular cars, a popular company. What's the potential long-term damage to Toyota from all this? LeBEAU: It depends on how quickly Toyota can get past this. It has been straightforward in telling people there's a problem, it's working on solving that problem. You'll see the beginning of them trying to repair any damage that's been done with the public with the newspaper ads tomorrow and then on Monday of next week when they announce how they plan to fix this problem. Ultimately, Lester, we're going to have to see six months, a year, a year and a half from now how much people have lost confidence in Toyota. And there's really no way of knowing right now. HOLT: Phil LeBeau in Las Vegas tonight. Phil, thanks.
