Event Date(s): 03/22/2008 | Event Location(s): Today New York Studio | Description: In live studio interview with TODAY's Amy Robach, Ebay style director Constance White: AMY ROBACH: Constance, good morning. Ms. CONSTANCE WHITE: Hi, Amy. How are you? ROBACH: I'm doing well. So we already see a lot of the spring wear in the stores. What should be your shopping strategy? Ms. WHITE: Exactly. You really want, as the winter turns into spring, that transition wardrobe. ROBACH: You're going to have to figure out which winter wear we should keep... Ms. WHITE: Absolutely. Yes. ROBACH: ...and how to move it into spring. The first up is ruffles. Ruffles were big this winter. Ms. WHITE: Ruffles. Big on the runway. They were big in the street. And here we have the ruffles, which, for winter, you wore very heavy, of course, kept warm. We've seen ruffles on blouses, dresses, skirts. Here we have ruffles for the spring. ROBACH: So that's the same top... Ms. WHITE: The same ruffled blouse. ROBACH: ...but now you've just brightened it up. Ms. WHITE: We brightened it up, paired it with a peg skirt, which is also a hot trend. Sexy sandals from Ferragamo, very pretty, right? And this shirt from Charles Haan--I'm sorry--is really a great one. Because it's sleeveless, you can pile it on for the winter. And then for spring you have it here very bare, and just sort of chug around a little sweater if you get chilly. ROBACH: Right. TEXT: Love It Or Lose It Keep a few key winter pieces to transition to spring ROBACH: Well, Jenny looks great. Thanks so much. JENNY: Thank you. ROBACH: Our next trend to talk about is those wide-leg pants. Ms. WHITE: Wide-leg pants. ROBACH: We saw them all winter long with the menswear trend. Ms. WHITE: Exactly. Really hot. Very elegant. Now pair it... ROBACH: That looks great. Ms. WHITE: Isn't that great? ROBACH: Yes, I love that. Ms. WHITE: This L.A.M.B. blouse I love, a silk blouse, which is really big. We all have that or invest in it for the spring. ROBACH: Mm-hmm. Ms. WHITE: And pair it with brights. ROBACH: Right. Ms. WHITE: These Ferragamo brights, the handbag, and the shoes are in pink, but orange, red, tangerine, like you are wearing... ROBACH: OK. Ms. WHITE: ...green, are all hot colors for spring. And for these wide-leg pants, which we won on eBay from Balenciaga... ROBACH: OK. Wow. Ms. WHITE: ...this is wonderful. Everyone has a pair in their wardrobes for fall, and this is how to update it for spring. ROBACH: Looks great. Thanks so much. All right, the next is the trench coat. This has always been a classic look. Ms. WHITE: Exactly. ROBACH: And we will have a look for here that we saw all winter long. And then we're going to update it for spring. But this is the winter look. Ms. WHITE: The trench--right--the trench is something which was great for winter. It is something which you can wear the turtleneck for winter, pants, a skirt. And here it's very simple to freshen this up for spring. ROBACH: Wow. Ms. WHITE: Put a wonderful dress under it. This yellow dress from DKNY and these great gladiator-inspired sandals from Sigerson Morrison. This trench I love. It's by Operations and it's a stylized trench. So it's taking the classic and making it more contemporary. ROBACH: Right. Ms. WHITE: And now you see it's very springlike. And it's...(unintelligible). ROBACH: Especially with that big yellow pop underneath it. Ms. WHITE: Yes. ROBACH: No, Candy looks great. Thanks so much. Ms. WHITE: Keeps you cool. ROBACH: So we talked about how we transition, what to keep. Ms. WHITE: What you keep. ROBACH: But now we ought to talk about things that we should lose. Ms. WHITE: What to ditch. ROBACH: Because there are some styles that you should probably tuck away for maybe another decade, right? Ms. WHITE: We just saw the wide-leg pant. ROBACH: Skinny jeans are already gone? Ms. WHITE: It's time to lose--look, if you're under 25, it's time to lose the skinny jeans. ROBACH: OK. Ms. WHITE: OK? That cigarette leg, the wide leg, much more elegant, beautiful. ROBACH: It's better for the hips anyway, as well. Ms. WHITE: Exactly. ROBACH: OK, we're losing the wide belts, huh, too? Ms. WHITE: Yes, the superwide belts. Designers were showing belts about half this size... ROBACH: OK. Ms. WHITE: ...and also superskinny belts. ROBACH: Superskinny belts are in or out? Ms. WHITE: So--are in. Totally in. ROBACH: OK, they're in and wide is out. OK. What about bling? Ms. WHITE: Bling. Too much bling. ROBACH: Is there ever such thing... Ms. WHITE: We don't have the bling-bling earrings anymore. ROBACH: OK, all right. Ms. WHITE: It's all about statement necklace made from different stones... ROBACH: OK. Ms. WHITE: ...made from quartz. Not the bling. ROBACH: OK. TEXT: Lose It For Spring Bling is out Go for subtle accessories Ms. WHITE: Of course... ROBACH: We're not going to see the high boots anymore? Ms. WHITE: No. You can ditch your high boots. Put them in the back of your closet. We don't need them now. ROBACH: For those who spent money on them, I hope they come back next year, right? Ms. WHITE: Oh, yeah, they always do. You're fine. ROBACH: OK, so they're going to be, like, lower ankle boots? Ms. WHITE: But ankle boots for spring... ROBACH: OK. Mm-hmm. Ms. WHITE: ...keep those--wear ankle boots--get a pair of ankle boots which also take you into next fall, too. ROBACH: OK. And I think a lot of us are happy to see this trend go. Ms. WHITE: Oh, yes. ROBACH: I never really got into this. Ms. WHITE: All this volume. Who needs the extra baggage? ROBACH: Right. Do we want to look bigger? Ms. WHITE: All this volume. No, it's all about the pencil skirt that we saw earlier. ROBACH: OK. Ms. WHITE: Or also you could--skirts which have a little less fabric, more of an A-line. ROBACH: Mm-hmm. Ms. WHITE: Still a little fullness, but not all this volume. ROBACH: OK, that's good to know. Ms. WHITE: Ditch that. ROBACH: All right, Constance, thanks so much. We appreciate it. Ms. WHITE: You're welcome. ROBACH: Nice to have you here.
