Event Date(s): 11/25/1981 | Event Location(s): Chicago, Illinois;Today New York Studio;New York City, New York;Hollywood, California; | Description: (08:14:00)"Donahue on Today" - Phil Donahue on tape from Chicago offers part 2 of 2-part interview with Catholic theologian Hans Kung. He says in a time of starvation, war and overpopulation it's strange that the Catholic Church should be so concerned with questions of infallibility. He says it should be concerned with the meaning of Christ for today's world. Kung states he's written to the Pope to ask for a meeting but he never receives an answer. He claims many Catholics feel in limbo now because of present"polarization," which he says wasn't true in time of John XXIII. Kung feels the current trend is to curb people with different opinions. (08:32:00) Tom Brokaw interviews NBC reporter John Cochran in NY studio about his recent seven-month stint in Poland. Cochran says food not available for Poles is available at hotels for Westerners. He says Poles have asked him to bring back care packages including tape, envelopes and products for women. Cochran feels it will be a tough winter, as homes won't be heated in Poland above 55 degrees. He says the danger of riots because of shortages could bring out troops, but most Poles don't expect a Russian invasion. (08:40:00) Rona Barrett reports on Hollywood business news.
