Senator Schumer calls shutdown Trump shutdown Republicans aided and abetted, rebutting counterpart Thune
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York says in daily floor remarks on the 16th day of a government shutdown that the Republican leader keeps citing 13 CRs passed when the speaker was majority leader but fails to mention those 13 CRs were a product of bipartisan negotiation and serious conversation where changes were made when Republican colleagues suggested them despite being in the minority, unlike the new Republican majority that has completely shut out Democrats' right to be heard and led to the Trump shutdown aided and abetted by Senate Republicans who hold the American people hostage.
