Shiite Muslim community in Piraeus port of Athens, marks the day of Ashura with tears, prayer, and self-flagellation. The religious festival of Ashura commemorates the killing of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Mohamed, by armies of the caliph Yazid in 680 AD.
